The Power of the Speed Light Strikes Again

If you read my posts regularly, you’ll know that I am obsessed with lifestyle/blog types of photos. I don’t know why I’m so obsessed with that concept but I am. I mean maybe I should start up a life style blog soon but let me finish this semester first. haha Anyway, that’s the concept I was going for with Megan. I wanted these photos to scream “fashion blogger.” I know that I still need a lot of practice to achieve those types of photos but it’s a work in progress.

I’ll admit that these photos are kind of dark but I think that it’s because they were taken in a dim barn with a speed light. I did my best to up the exposure and contrast in post but I think that the speed light created some nice split and rembrandt lighting on her face. Like I said earlier, I wanted these to have a fashion feel so I asked her to pose like a fashion blogger. I don’t really know if that was a clear direction haha but I feel like the goal was achieved.

Here’s a cool tutortial about how to take portraits with a speed light: http://digital-photography-school.com/one-speedlight-portrait-lighting-tutorial/
